A Forgotten Passion

I did something today that I haven’t done in about 14 years.

I went fishing.

At one time fishing was a great passion of mine. I would fish all day and fish all night. I spent a lot of time at the lake, creek bank, mountain stream, or river. One of the shops I worked at had a lake close by and I would spend 20 minutes of my 30 minute lunch break with a line in the water.

Fishing was a passion instilled in me by my paternal granddad. He taught me how to be a great fisherman along with many other life lessons during the hours we spent out in the Jon boat. Then my Father-in-Law, I discovered, had the same passion. We also spent many hours pulling in Bream, Largemouth Bass, Trout, and Channel Cats.

I’m not sure what happened or why I stopped.

Today, I broke that 14 year no fishin’ streak.

What made today even more special is that I got to take my youngest two fishing for their first time.

And, they both caught a fish.

Here is to many more trips together with them.
